CERTIFIED MEDICAL TECHNICIAN PROGRAM CNA - MED TECH

State Approved Certified Medical Technician Program. Includes: 60 hours classroom, 20 hours classroom/ lab, and 40 hours clinical training. This is a 120 hour course preparing CNAs working in nursing homes to administer medications under the supervision of an RN ( is 40 hours piece should be scheduled at the facility, by the facility, and a schedule provided to the instructor.) CERTIFIED RESIDENTIAL MEDICATION AIDE

A 40-hour course designed to teach Residential Care Workers to administer selected non-injectable medications in a Licensed Residential Care or Group Home setting. The course provides the basic understanding needed to administer medications and to document safely and accurately. The course covers State of Maine regulations, standard residential facility policies, basic anatomy and physiology, common medications in the majority of drug classes, and the practice of safe medication administration procedures. Once enrolled, participants must complete all classroom and clinical components, without exception. Mock med passes are completed as part of the classroom experience. In addition, participants are required to perform 3 med passes supervised by an RN in a clinical setting. Documentation of these med passes is due within 45 days of the completion of the course. It is important for the CRMA to understand exactly what the roles and responsibilities of this position include.
The 180 hour Certified Nursing Assistant Course is designed to prepare the student to be a Nursing Assistant. Call the Adult Ed Office at 778-3460 for application, registration requirements and placement on a waiting list. Details regarding dates, location and fees will be provided to participants as the class fills.
This course offers 96+ classroom hours, 25 hours job shadow/clinical hours and CPR Certification. This course is designed to introduce students to various aspects of dental assisting in the classroom and in actual dental offices. Instructions will include explanations in dental pathology, dental charting, assisting the dentist during dental procedures, instrumentation, dental terminology, sterilization of instruments, infection control and patient care. Minimum 8 registration Mondays & Thursdays | 5-9pm | TBA Location: Mt. Blue Campus Fee: $850, Lab Supplies/Materials: Scrubs/Lab Jacket, Safety Glasses, CPR, paid by individual. Textbooks are included.
EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN TRAINING (EMT)

The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Program provides students with necessary skills to respond to emergency calls, to provide efficient and immediate care to critically injured persons, and to transport patients to a medical facility. Students receive instruction in anatomy and physiology and patient assessment. Students who successfully complete the program will be eligible to take the National Registry Exam for Emergency Medical Technicians. The course includes a 12-hour clinical rotation in an emergency department and a 12-hour ride-along with an ambulance service. An interview is required as part of the admission to the program. TechHire is a program designed to recruit, assess, train and place young adults into Maine’s IT industry in positions like computer support specialist, software, and health informatics. Completed training will result in credentials recognized by the IT industry. This grant funded program provides a host of services to train young adult (between the ages of 17 and 29) as well as career changers who are looking to transition into IT roles. *Eligibility requirements do apply.
