The licensing process, available resources, supports, and next steps for those interested are among the topics covered. Foster families and homes are needed in every Maine community. Children in foster care need suportive adults to provide loving homes until they can be safely reunited with their family. Come learn more to see if this could be you. BHP - BEHAVIOR HEALTH PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION TRAINING

Looking for in meaningful work? Children’s behavioral health services are vital to Maine’s Children with intellectural disabilities, autism and mental health disorders and their families. As an integral part of the child’s treatment team, a Certified Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) has the opportunity to make an immediate impact while helping a child grown and develop to their full potential. We are excited to connect our community with this wonderful ONLINE training and certificate program. This training will prepare you for employment through local social service agencies and equip you to work with children who qualify for services. This program can be started at any time and finished at your own pace. You will complete 12 online modules, then three 4-hour live (in-person) sessions. Once the modules are completed, you will receive free online blood borne pathogen training and Child and Adult First Aid & CPR Certification. In just 40 hours, our free remote training program can get you certified and on your way to a life changing profession. Must be a Maine resident, and at least 18 years old with a high school diploma (or equivalent) to beome certified.

CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT (CNA)

The 130 hour Certified Nursing Assistant Course is designed to prepare the student to be a Nursing Assistant. Call the Adult Ed Office at 778-3460 for an application, registration requirements and placement on a waiting list. Details regarding dates, location and fees will be provided to participants as the class list is completed.

CNA CERTIFIED MEDICAL TECHNICIAN
State Approved Certified Medical Technician Program. Includes: 60 hours classroom, 20 hours classroom/lab, and 40 hours clinical training. This is a 120 hour course preparing CNA’s working in nursing homes to administer medications under the supervision of an RN (this 40 hour piece should be scheduled at the facility, by the facility, and a schedule provided to the instructor.) PREREQUISITE: CNA license +2080 hours as a CNA. Call the Adult Ed Office at 778-3460 for an application and detailed registration requirements.

MEDICATION AIDE (CRMA)

This is a 40 hour course with 5 training sessions. This course will cover State of Maine regulations, some standard residential facility policies, basic anatomy and physiology of the human body, common medications in the majority of drug classes, and the practice of safe medication administration procedures. Additionally, participants will be provided the opportunity to practice taking vital signs, transcribing physician orders,
administering medications in the classroom setting and completing medication
cards/worksheets or some other type of learning tool. Assessments required.

PARENTS IN THE KNOW

Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Services
Parents in the Know is an interactive 4 session course designed by PCAR and presented by SAPARS. This course is not just for parents but for any person who is interested in learning how to keep children safer from sexual abuse. Sessions will take place via zoom with phone support if needed. This course is free of charge but will require a conversation with the facilitators before admission to the course. For more information contact educators@sapars.org.
ROCKBAND 101

Is playing in a rock band on your bucket list? Then this course is for you. This 2 hour a week, 5 weeks program will teach you fun pop-rock songs. A new 5 week session will follow. The overall focus will be an informal, stress-relieving jam session wih pizza and water provided. Even if you have no experience you will learn to play 2 -3 songs!
