Have you always wanted to sew, but do not know where to start? Are you a casual sewer that wants to refine your technique? Whether you are a total beginner or a self-taught hobbyist, Beginner Sewing Class is for you! I will help you, —whether you are starting from scratch, or just need a few more pointers. I will cover some of the basics, from understanding your machine to achieving the perfect fit. Plus, you will finish the project with four classes. Looking to help you with any project you want to do or you can make a christmas placemat.  Please bring your sewing machine to class. CERTIFIED RESIDENTIAL MEDICATION AIDE

A 40-hour course designed to teach Residential Care Workers to administer selected non-injectable medications in a Licensed Residential Care or Group Home setting. The course provides the basic understanding needed to administer medications and to document safely and accurately. The course covers State of Maine regulations, standard residential facility policies, basic anatomy and physiology, common medications in the majority of drug classes, and the practice of safe medication administration procedures. Once enrolled, participants must complete all classroom and clinical components, without exception. Mock med passes are completed as part of the classroom experience. In addition, participants are required to perform 3 med passes supervised by an RN in a clinical setting. Documentation of these med passes is due within 45 days of the completion of the course. It is important for the CRMA to understand exactly what the roles and responsibilities of this position include.

The 180 hour Certified Nursing Assistant Course is designed to prepare the student to be a Nursing Assistant. Call the Adult Ed Office at 778-3460 for application, registration requirements and placement on a waiting list. This course is designed to improve students’ reading and writing skills. Students will practice close reading skills based on individual needs. Beginning levels will work with short nonfiction articles; the more advanced level will focus on a more in-depth study of literature. Sentence structure, paragraph writing and essay writing will also be addressed. Advanced students will practice essay writing using material from their reading to support a thesis. To receive credit, attendance at all classes is mandatory. Prerequisite: CASAS Reading Score of 236. Please call instructor to arrange for the test.

Come join us for 13 weeks of FUN, FRIENDS, GOOD MUSIC and GOOD TIMES! Meet new friends and get off that treadmill! Good indoor winter exercise, both physical and mental (without the pain and boredom!). No experience necessary and the dress is always casual. Partners are not required but are always encouraged.
